Fall Fishing Charter St Simons Island GA

Fishing Charter St Simons Island GA

Over the last few months the inshore bite has been really good which is to be expected for this time of year. Over the last couple of months we have had a lot of really windy days so that has been pretty difficult to fish in and also had to cancel a lot of trips.

On the days we have been able to get out and fish I have been able to catch a lot of the fish pretty close to St Simons Island mostly around the sound and back into the rivers around the island. Most of the fish have been caught in 10 foot or less of water on live bait under a popping cork and also on soft plastic artificial baits.  Most of the trout and redfish have been hanging out around the oyster beds on rips and a also catching a lot on some of the flats. Some days we are catching a lot of keeper fish and then the next day you can go to the same spot the fish are to small to keep so some days you have to hit several spots to find the fish that are keepers.

The last couple days of fishing the water has been pretty dirty on the outgoing tides so we have had to do a lot of riding to find clean water and have ended up down south of Jekyll Island before finding a good steady bite. Once we have found the fish there bite has been fast with a lot of smaller trout and slot redfish. I haven’t been to the north end of St Simons Island but have heard of some really good fishing reports from those guys who fish up there a lot.

If the weather doesn’t get any colder and the wind will stay down the bite should remain strong for the rest of the month. We have a couple of more trips on the books for this month so if your looking for a last minute gift or a family outing contact me for any info or to book a trip.
